About Tax Scout, LLC
We are a small, dedicated tax firm staffed full-time and year-round. Our original office opened in Arizona in 2020, and in 2025 we expanded with a second office in Colorado. Jason owns and runs the Arizona office, while Somi owns and runs the Colorado office, and they regularly consult together on tax matters.
Our office is in downtown Cave Creek, Arizona. Most of our clients live in Cave Creek, Carefree, Scottsdale, Desert Hills, Paradise Valley, and Phoenix. However, approximately 30% of our clients live throughout the United States. Because we are federally licensed, we prepare taxes in all 50 states.
Meet Our Team
Jason Knickerbocker
Enrolled Agent, Owner
Jason is an Enrolled Agent, the highest credential the IRS awards tax accountants, and attends the IRS tax convention every year to stay current with tax law. He has published several books, including “50 IRS Flags and How to Avoid Them,” holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Arizona, and is a U.S. Army veteran. He is married to Amy, has four kids, and enjoys boating and fishing with his family.
Jason wrote “50 IRS Audit Flags and How to Avoid Them” to help taxpayers understand exactly what draws IRS attention – and how to stay off that list in the first place. It breaks down real audit triggers in plain English, the same expertise he brings to every return he prepares for Tax Scout clients.
